Everything about the backend is perfect, however I really do wish we could customize the booking UI better. It looks quite messy, especially compared to Cal.com.
Maybe allow some customization with the option to add rounded borders or background color. If it's too complex, why not just add a couple pre-built templates users can pick from? Minimalist, Dark, Light etc.
Hope this is good feedback!
When purchased, Tidycal was a no brainer : configure, share a link and start receiving new meeting invites in your inbox.
Only Google and Office365 were supported : that was okay for the price. I use Zimbra for GDPR reasons, but I could setup a dedicated gmail agenda to share my availability with tidycal.
One day, Tidycal team decided to suppress sending meeting appointment confirmation but just a useless "tada mail: you got a new booking". With no plan to restore this basic feature, and no real explaination on why they removed it. So, from now, either I stop using my paid Tidycal, or I need to manually copy the appointment details into my Zimbra calendar (instead of just clicking on "accept" or "add to my agenda").
So, if you're okay (and can) with sharing your whole gmail or Office365 agenda with tidycal (wich may be a security concern), this tool still has a good feature/price ratio. But beware that any feature you value may disappear at any time.
And otherwise,
Overalll, Tidycal is easy to use and great for super-simple use cases. However, there are some basic things you should be able to do that you can't.
1. You can't change the wording of the confirmation message.
2. You can't change how your location shows up, so if it's a physical location it says ""Custom (provided after booking)" which just looks weird. If you don't want your address showing that's fine, but it should say "[company name] location" instead of "custom."
3. You can't send an automatic follow up email, or vary the email text for more than one reminder.
4. I'm a local business but it seems there is no way to see the timing in the user's time zone for virtual meetings. That's a BIG fail if true, and makes this basically unusable for international businesses. (But local businesses have the weird "Custom location" thing mentioned above. So who is this tool for in its current state 🤔)
Super grateful for this product. It has helped me save that money from using Calendly.😁
Was a little worry at first that it won‘t work for me but it turns out to be supriseingly easy to understand and use. I‘m glad I‘ve dropped the monthy subscription plan and switched to TidyCal. One of my best business decision ever!!
I really wanted to love TidyCal but it's missing features which I use on a daily basis, so unfortunately it can't replace my free Boomerang calendar.
1. There's no calendar overlay so I have to constantly switch between calendars to see my availability. I am a psychotherapist and work in sessions, so I add slots in and around sessions rather than full day availability.
2. There's no comparisons between 2 time zones. Again, this is a feature I use a lot as I work internationally and often have to find slots which work for both myself and the client. I have to calculate and figure this outside of the app, which adds extra work for me.
3. There's no way to easily select ad-hoc availability. I don't work by scheduling days, I use slots and that's really hard to add quickly. I have to add the slots line by line (and switching in between calendars to see exact availability), rather than easily clicking on a calendar with my availability overlayed like I do in Boomerang.
4. I wish I could hide my main booking page as this makes it easily accessible for anyone. I want to keep my booking pages private and separate depending on the client. This way everyone can see my availability for all my services by going to the main url.
5. Big accessibility issues - upon testing booking a slot I realised that the Google invite looks very messy and isn't accessible. Linked text is removed and the links are written out in brackets, this is awful for accessibility and screen readers. Imagine a screen reader reading out a 2 line link made up of random letters.
6. Confirmation and booking pages fail accessibility guidelines. Contrast ratio fails on buttons and displayed messages. This is a big issue for me as I work with neurodivergent and disabled people who rely on assistive technologies. This doesn't make it inclusive for everyone.
What I do like is that I can edit the reminder emails as this is something I can't do currently, so this feature is great. It's also great that it integrates with Stripe and PayPal although I haven't tested this feature. I also love that you can see the roadmap for development. Please prioritise accessibility.
If you're looking for a very basic calendar app then this would work (but it's not inclusive for all people), but if your job requires more complexity and flexibility then I don't think this is the app for you right now (as of Nov 2024).
I can manage now a lot of types of booking, not just one
I was not very happy about some of the things that you advertised to be available on your website but only realised they are not after payment such as recurring daily bookings, being able to add the booking code on any website only to find out that its not possible on iframe environments. Its a bit of of a let down. Still exploring the paid options facilities and dreading to find out what else is is not included as advertised.
This deal is not to be ignored! I was worried about swapping softwares to TidyCal as I imagined it would cause me a massive headache. It was totally seamless and so easy to use! Layout is simple and options to create many variations of meetings makes running a business easier. Software is great and highly recommend!
I have found Tidycal very difficult to use. I am unable to link it to a payment system and have found booking my first event really difficult as having to take payments individually.
So far so good. I had to make some settings adjustments but once I got those dialed in it's been working really well for me.
This is a decent and very basic/barebones app. It's overall pretty ugly and I wish that you could customize the look a lot more. Needs CSS ability and/or a full styling section to customize every color and aspect as well as add your own header, text, links, etc.
It seems to work properly and gets the job done. I wish there was no branding for paid users.
