Hear me out. I know they "only" have 181 peices, but guess what? When selecting a piece to use, you can click on the AI and ask it to make one for you. Here's a tip, if it has problems making it, copy the API documentation and tell AI to use it as a reference. If you add this into your consideration, i got a steal.
Great idea, bad execution. Unfortunately we can not make it work. No templates that make sense. I mean I want to post on instagram, simple as that, give us instructions.
Boy do I wish I had tested this out more thoroughly before going all in. Based on the reviews, I thought it'd be a good investment but I didn't have time to test it out before the 60 day period. That's my fault but I regret it a lot.
I am trying to build a somewhat complex (medium level) flow and there are many issues. Primarily, there is no "save" button so if the builder bugs out, then you have to refresh and re-add all your changes.
The built in PDF parser is terrible. I don't know how that vs chatgpt is so far apart. On top of that, they don't have any other PDF parsers like pdf.co
I think there's still potential but it has a long ways to go.
If there were some promises made, I can tell you that using this service and trying to get it working is an absolute nightmare. And when you need help, you'll quickly discover that you're on your own and that there is no support for it. All they'll say is : go to the forum and get help there on your own. I posted about 3 messages on the forum asking for help, no one f** cares about you.
Not to say this product doesn't even have basic tasks such as "if a new WordPress post with category "xxx" is created > send out a campaign using tool "ABC". I mean, that's pretty much the basic thing most people want to do : automate an email campaign.
Good luck, I've just never managed using this tool.
Let’s cut to the chase—Activepieces is a solid investment if you know what you’re getting into. I’ve been using it alongside other tools like Albato and Make, and it’s quickly becoming my go-to for handling serious, heavy-duty automations in both eCommerce and service-based operations.
The community is active, the support is responsive, and the platform is evolving in the right direction. If you’re looking for something that can grow with you, this is it.
Now, Let’s Address the Concerns:
WhatsApp Piece: First off, I’ve seen some folks mentioning missing pieces like WhatsApp. Good news—that’s been added now. The team is clearly listening and rolling out updates, which is exactly what you want in a platform that’s still growing.
Premium Connectors: I get the confusion around the premium connectors, but let’s be fair—Activepieces has been upfront about what’s included in the deal and what’s not. These premium connectors are enterprise-level, custom tools designed for big players. If you’re running an SMB, these likely aren’t even on your radar, so there’s no real loss here. Complaining about this feels a bit off, especially when they’ve been transparent from the start.
Continuous Development: What’s impressive is how fast they’re developing and growing the platform based on user feedback. The team is clearly committed to making this tool better with each update. As a user, it feels good to know that our feedback is being taken seriously and is actively shaping the platform.
Missing Integrations: Sure, some integrations are still in the pipeline, but the core ones are already here. And if you’re technical, you can even add your own pieces. I’m not a developer myself, but I’m seeing more and more pieces added over time, and it’s covering my needs just fine.
The Bottom Line:
Activepieces isn’t perfect, but it’s powerful, flexible, and growing fast. If you’re patient and willing to stick with it, you’re getting a fantastic deal that will only get better as more features and integrations roll out. This tool is built for those who want more control and power in their automations, and I’m all in to see where it goes.
They clearly didn't mean to follow through with the "all pieces" connector provided to us. When you start using the platform, you realise there are 'premium connectors' that you can't use. There was a weird explanation given about how this is to only bill 'large clients' for connectors behind a sales wall - but ALL connectors means ALL connectors. Refund time!
Changes/Update to at least modules do not get tested thouroughly but released to the masses causing workflows to break or stop or sometimes deliver unexpected results - leaving to the customers to troubleshoot and mititgate. I am about to refund.
I needed to automate either of these 4 things:
1. Telegram
2. WhatsApp
3. SMS messages
4. To Do (Microsoft)
None are available. That's it.
I'm stuck waiting for further development for these 4 just to test it.
2 stars because MAYBE it will do other things I want it to do in the future.
I was excited because, "Wow! IFTTT alternative at last!"
But, no.
As an IFTTT alternative, it's a failure (for now).
I'm still using IFTTT for Telegram, WhatsApp, and SMS automations.
I recently tried out the Activepieces app and found it to be well-built. However, there are still some key integrations missing with relevant applications. In my case, I missed having integration with Evernote. Additionally, for integrations like Gmail, there is a lack of trigger variety, such as highlighting a message with a star or when adding a tag to a message. I hope the system improves, which seems to be the direction it is heading towards.
To start off this is a great no code product. If you ever heard of Zapier, Make, Pabbly Connect- this is the equivalent. From my initial skepticism of another no code software hitting the market, I was probably having the same thoughts you did. "Is this any different?", "Is it worth it?". But after using it for a few weeks now here are the pros:
1. Great UI (user interface)
2. You dont have to be a developer to understand how to use this. If this is your first time there is a little learning curve no matter what software you use and this is no different. 2-3 helpful videos or written tutorials from their community and you will be off and running
https://community.activepieces.com/c/tutorials/10
3. Price- currently I have Zapier ($20/m) and pay for the lowest tier which includes 750 zaps or tasks. That will get you a enough to do light automation but thats about it. After 4-5 months I was needing to upgrade. Good news with ActivePieces is they offer the starting tier at 10k ($89 LTD) and goes up from there.
4. Open Source- so since I am not a developer (and dont intend to be), I didnt really know what this meant at first. Basically this means that any developer that wants to work on developing more pieces or app connections for Active pieces can! This mean that Active Pieces is not limited to the bandwidth they have from their own team. Think of it like the equivalent of Wikipedia where you can help add useful content (except developers who help ActivePieces know what the heck they are doing haha).
Cons:
1. I wish I upgraded to tier 3 for more tasks available............. If ActivePieces team sees this, have mercy on me and consider upgrading me and I will happily pay!
it is stable, easy to use and LTD! =)
Only thing to improve is more implementations.
But for now i am really happy, because the most important things for me (telegram, sendfox, rss-feed,...) are already there.
