Best AI Tool for researchers. Really a game-changer.

Love the product, the developers work constantly to improve.

I'm choosing it for where I need it. I started using Afforai as a test case compared to other tools and a ChatGPT+ account. I'm choosing it over other tools for various use cases - specifically those in which I don't want the contents to jump the fence (sure, I could turn off "share and train OpenAI on trade secrets"). It's only gotten better since my first use. While the output isn't GPT4 quality yet - even that will be behind with Claude 3's upcoming launch - I'm more focused on platform usability and quality-trained custom applications. As long as Alec keeps his mission-mojo for the platform (had a call with him, a product-market fit interview, and the quality of his thinking and questions gives me hope that he'll find it), I don't doubt this will be a long-run winner for those who use it for research-based writing (books, articles, commenting) and documentation development. Because I'm not writing with the chatbot, I barely use any of my credits despite having significant chat engagements with the platform. Some will use the tool for other purposes, and they might need more for specialty use (small amounts of credits for use with connected platforms or inter-document connection).

I am writing a new book soon and I used AI to write my last one. This one will have much more research references than the last one and it's something no one has written about yet. Which means that I am having to pull together research in new ways. Using traditional AI tools, I was finding it difficult to get them to stop using old, outdated research in their answers. With Afforai I wrote up the basis of what I'm doing, uploaded it and then have been able to pull together research that is related to some of the new ways of understanding neuroscience research. It has been truly game changing. I already go through the basic structure of my book in a fraction of the time it had been taking me. I'm beginning to think Tier 2 wasn't enough!!!

Usually it's when an AS product does terribly bad or extremely well that it would prompt me to write a review. This is one of the situations where it is extremely well. I did a test by doing a data dump of my realtor business into a bot, and then made inquiries ranging from general/abstract to quizzing on specific laws. My takeaways: 1) This product is blazing fast. FAST. Everything from mass document uploads to chatbot response times. 2) This product is smart. It answered all my inquiries comprehensively and adequately. 3) This product actually provides citations from multiple source documents to justify its responses. 4) Native LLM provided + BYOK ability 5) Clear commitment and communication by CEO/exec team to keep improving product AS Top 10? Of all time? Yes, this is one of them. If only it offered unlimited credits during the AS campaign, I would have taken that in a heartbeat. If Afforai is ever back on AS, take this review as your sign that you MUST get this.

In a world where all applications are ChatGPT rebranded, Afforai is a unique product. I don't quite understand how it works, as you can set up one LLM for queries and another for citations. I don't know how they use two different LLMs for this, but it really is an ingenious solution, as it offers an experience of tracing the original document part that you wouldn't have with other solutions.

I just purchase the Product. I believe 100% Afforai team. they are doing great job. i will recommend for everyone , with new update which is releasing on 01/02/24. Afforia will break all record . best of luck.

This is one of my best Appsumo purchase so far. It's a fantastic tool for research based on one's own documents. Looking forward to the major February update and many more.

I bought this to add to my arsenal of AI tools to help me with research. I had super high hopes and it seemed quite promising. The roadmap looked good and the pace of development initially was high. At first, it looks like it delivers on the promise of citing sources. When I actually tried to use Afforai's output, however, it fell short. I thought it was because I was not prompting it the way Afforai specifically needs to be prompted. So I tested, tweaked, and refined. But the issues only seem to get worse. I've come across countless issues (a few of which I'll describe), and it mostly collects dust now where other AppSumo tools like Voila and Triplo are my daily drivers. It's quite a bit faster for me to query PubMed myself and manually research. Con #1: You cannot export citations. When you copy Afforai's output, the source hyperlink doesn't copy! I tried to create a tampermonkey script to fix this, but the website's styling makes it incredibly tricky. So basically I must manually open each source in my browser and copy it to clipboard and then paste it into Notion. Huge pain. But that's not all. Con #2: The inline highlight showing the fact's source is very buggy and often inaccurate. For example, I know sleep research well. I saw a surprising fact, and looked into the source. Afforai didn't understand that the source it quoted was actually *debunking* the "fact" that it displayed. So totally inaccurate. Sometimes it's unreadable. Sometimes it just points to another citation in research. Either way, I cannot trust the output much more than other AI tools. Con #3: The AI is hard to query & doesn't respect requests. When I ask it to modify the output to be "longer" or to "emphasize X", or to "find me more stats/facts/quotes", it doesn't. Just repeats the same exact thing. Con #4: Querying documents isn't as robust as hoped. I don't use this feature much, but when I do, it doesn't do a great job scanning through documents and actually synthesizing information. I've gotten a number of inaccurate responses. It works just okay for this. There's also no Chrome Extension, no ability to query particular websites, and no mobile/desktop app. Supposedly, the Feb 1st update will bring the (very) long-awaited feature of a Google Scholar integration. But if history is any indicator, I imagine this rollout won't work as expected. Overall, I was very excited and optimistic about the launch of this app. Even recommended it to a friend based on my early usage. Afforai has a TON of potential. Sadly, it seems that other AI tools will overtake it before it matures into a fully usable product.

I'm really impressed by Afforai so far! Uploaded a long document and created a bot to analyze it with Google Search and was impressed with the summaries and follow up responses. Would be cool to allow others to access the bots we make with a library of docs for research too.
