It got worse...

The bot9 site used to scan websites to import training information for each bot. You could always add extra information but the website scanning was an integral part of the process. This feature seems to be dead now and you now have to manually create each page that the bot would be trained on. If your standard website has 20 to 30 pages total and you have 10 website, get ready to manually create and feed the bot up to 300 pages of information instead of it doing the scanning that it used to do.

Customer support and response is pretty lacking. The FB group seems to be dead with no responses to people's questions. The slack group seems to be gone. E-mails and chat messages don't get response either.

What was once one of my favorite appsumo finds is now one of my biggest regrets. Hopefully they'll turn things around and make the product as good as it was six months ago.

Nice product, BUT doubts about the company and their decisions

First of all, I do like the product. The dashboard is clean and the bots work very well. There have been some nice developments as well. When I purchased the deal, it was not yet possible to let the bots only reply based on trained data. When asked a question that the bot wasn't trained for, it tended to use some general info. That was a pain. After some updates, that became an added feature. So right now I'm pretty pleased with the bot performances.

But! (and I know that the Appsumo review guidelines say 'Review the product, not the terms', but for me (and many other Sumolings), the terms are the reason for purchasing the product)

I purchased Tier 2 because of the BYOK feature. I really wanted to be able to use my own OpenAI account. Suddenly, the company decided to remove that feature. They say it became an obsolete feature since their own language models are performing better now. Well, can I decide that myself?! It's like buying a car and the car company suddenly rips off the windshield wipers, saying that it'll probably not rain anyway.... No, that's not the way you treat your customers.

So if you can't bring your own key, then you totally depend on Bot9. In Tier 2, 5000 messages are included per month. So if you exceed those, you have to pay. I'm pretty sure this was the one and only reason for Bot9 to remove the BYOK feature. The additional credits you pay for once exceeding your limit will be pricey. That's probably the reason why you can't find the costs for additional messages on their website. They tell you to send them an email. So I did. Twice. So far, no response. My experience with companies is that if you have to make a lot of effort to find out about certain costs, it's pricey.

I'm so disappointed in Bot9. It looked like an awesome product. I even bought an Appsumo Plus subscription to be able to pick it up. I had some nice plans with my Bot9 product, but right now I'm doubting whether to use it. Because what will happen in the future....? Maybe they will tell what the price of the additional messages is, but what if they suddenly change this policy again? I'm not able to use this product for different small companies since I don't know what invoice I'll get, suddenly.

Although I like the product and it was maybe my favorite purchase on Appsumo, right now I'm looking for another bot company and not advising people to use Bot9. Also, their regular prices on the website have been increased a lot (like a minimum 100% increase for their cheapest subscription). So it really looks like they are just trying to make big bucks. Which is fine. But don't treat early adopters this way. Why would you?

Extremely disappointed

I am extremely disappointed with Bot9's recent decision to remove the BYOK (Bring Your Own Key) feature, which was originally part of the deal. While the product itself is not bad and functions decently, the company's handling of this situation is where the real issue lies.

I specifically purchased the Tier 3 package because of the BYOK feature. It was a crucial part of my decision-making process, providing an extra layer of security and control that I needed. The abrupt removal of this feature without any prior warning, email notification, or compensation is entirely unprofessional. It feels like a bait-and-switch tactic, which is incredibly unfair to loyal customers who believed in Bot9 and supported them from the start.

On June 6th, I reached out via email to inquire if those who purchased the AppSumo deal could still access the BYOK feature. To date, I have received no response — not even a generic acknowledgment. This complete lack of communication and disregard for early customers' concerns is unacceptable. Ignoring the very individuals who supported you in the beginning is no way to build a lasting business relationship.

Ultimately, while the product may perform adequately, Bot9's customer service and ethical practices leave much to be desired. Until they can demonstrate a commitment to their customers and restore trust, I cannot recommend investing in their solutions. Be cautious and reconsider if reliability and transparent communication are important to you.

After using for 4 months

First of all, I only use Turkish as the language and I use it on about 8 sites.
I only use WhatsApp integration on 1 site.
I had problems when I used my own Openai API.
When I use Bot9's own APIs, I am 100% satisfied with the results, no. But it gives 80-90% good answers. I'm sure it will be improved further.
I hope that a client software that works on Windows will come in the future.

Extremely unsatisfied

Really very poor customer service , give it a try if you don't trust me ! , as well as they give you a very poor chat widget , where you may not even customize it & at the same time just have limited access, while talking about the yearly plan they ask you to give you the same upgraded plan for USD 10,000, I would hire a developer rather and create this SaaS for this much fee for a year ! coming back to the communication numerous mails were shared but no clear communication was provided by the team nor the founder infact they stopped replying. Sorry Summit never wanted to write such a review , i was initially very much impressed , but the service was poor , i waited at least for 10days .

no recomendable

Intenté crear un bot pero no respondió bien al intentar interactuar con el. Luego he tenido problemas con el inicio de sesión ya que no me dejaba entrar, y al contactar con soporte nunca llegó respuesta

I am a average guy

I don't usually review apps, but this one compelled me to. I must say, I love it. I can create a bot quickly, and they even offer an app for complete customization, enabling me to have a ready bot in no time. It's versatile and can be used for various events. This deal convinced me to purchase AppSumo Plus, as my friend uses it on their monthly plan. When I saw it in action, I immediately grabbed it.

Unable to have Clients train their own bot

Misleading as you expect that you're getting a full white-label only to find out you have to pay $2500. Sometimes when training the bot you'll receive errors, or the bot does not allow certain files to be uploaded such as csv. "failed to import training data".

It seems to reply in other languages well.. Overall once a lot of minor errors get fixed, this may be decent to use for my clients.

Feedback and Feature Request from a French User on Bot9 Chatbot

Dear Bot9 Team,

I recently purchased and tested your chatbot, Bot9, and I wanted to share my thoughts as a French user. First off, I must commend the ease of configuration and setup – it's impressively straightforward and user-friendly. This aspect alone made me quite satisfied with my purchase.

However, there's a significant barrier preventing me from fully utilizing this excellent tool within the French market. The widget interface of the chatbot includes English phrases that unfortunately render it unusable for my French-speaking clients. This language barrier has led to confusion and a diminished user experience for those who wish to interact with the chatbot. For instance, I've noticed specific phrases that cannot be translated or altered:

The header text "replies instantly...".
The input field placeholder "Write a reply...".
The pre-chat message "Previous Conversations".
The loading message "Thinking...".
The button label "start new chat".
Given the international potential of Bot9, adding a feature to customize these phrases in the chat widget's configuration settings would be incredibly beneficial. Such a feature would undoubtedly enhance the chatbot's versatility and accessibility, making it a valuable tool for users worldwide, especially in non-English speaking countries like France.

I understand the software's primary language is English, which generally doesn't pose an issue for me. However, the English phrases in the chat widget's interface create a significant barrier to my French-speaking clientele. This limitation has rendered my purchase unusable as long as these phrases remain untranslatable.

I kindly ask if your team could consider adding an option to customize these specific English phrases within the chat widget's configuration panel. Alternatively, if there's another solution or workaround you could suggest, I'd greatly appreciate your guidance. Such an update would not only resolve my current predicament but also broaden Bot9's applicability for French-speaking users and beyond.

Thank you for considering my feedback and request. I'm genuinely excited about the potential of Bot9 in the French market and am eager to see how it can be adapted to meet the needs of a diverse user base. I look forward to your response and am hopeful for a positive outcome.

Best regards,

Bot9 does all the heavy lifting on creating a knowledge base for me to answer my customer inquiries. Took a few days for Gods Eye to sync and map out site but the manual process to synch our data was done in no time. I highly recommend Bot9
