It's fine. Sometimes cool. Sometimes useless.

Like most other reviews here -- the idea is really solid. I actually heard about clay a long time ago and was so excited when it popped up here I bought it instantly.

Now, that being said. Not sure how useful it's been in practice. I have one main gripe with it, and if it was fixed that would be awesome.

Who wants to import the entirety of their LinkedIn or Facebook? I don't know anyone who doesn't have a bunch of randos from years ago on both of those platforms that they don't keep up with but also don't delete. I don't want them all in my Clay list. Sure I could go through and delete them one by one once they're imported, but that's a huge waste of time, and defeats the purpose of making my contact list easier. And clay often hangs when archiving a single contact, so doing it so it's a huge pain.

What would be awesome: enriching the contacts I do have imported with their info from Linkedin and Facebook once connected automatically. Find their birthdays, contact photos, and job info without me having to add their info manually or delete a million stray contacts. Right now, it doesn't look like you can enrich your clay contact list without putting in a ton of work yourself.

If I wanted to do that I could just fill out their info in my regular contact list on my iPhone. Seems like it's more trouble than it's worth most days.

Not really sure where the AI comes in here either. Maybe if I spent alot of time filling out everyones info it would work but alas. This one isn't there yet. I hope it does get there because I would love it if it delivered.

An easy to use personal CRM that uses AI to remind you and help you deepen relationships is a dream...and right now that's all it feels like.

5000 meaning nothing, too less

Useless with the connections limit

I am hardly a heavy networker. After connecting my Google, LinkedIn and Facebook accounts, Clay informed me that I was already over the 5000 connections limit. It seems like it's mining all of my e-mails and pulling every sender and recipient that I've ever interacted with over the past 15 years!

Excited for this app

Been looking for an app like this while and Clay does an excellent job. I can see them growing and continuing to improve this beautiful software.

Clay is a terrific app for building and maintaining your personal and business relationships. I have tried many apps, but this one is the best so far.

Love the Concept. Get Potential, But Not There Yet!

Clay is a wonderful concept! It could be powerful if the founders built what people wanted vs. holding on too tight to 'their baby'. The introduces unnecessary hardship that could choke the life out of a dream when you build what you want vs. what people want or are asking for.

1. To be called a CRM, in my opinion, indicates an understanding of the different phases a person or business may be in in a relationship and also the natural progressions of relationships. I see huge chunks of logic missing.

2. Clay seems to be fashioned more toward personal connections vs. business establishing in relationship depth for business, and I'd prefer the latter. I don't feel they are clear on who they are serving yet. I feel it's still in the ideation phase.

3. The 5,000 limit and the unwillingness to hear the needs of the masses, even if we're willing to pay more, was a deal breaker for me. The sole reliance on Zapier was also a dealbreaker. I don't even use Zapier. We use ActivePieces.

Overall, I love Clay's concept and potential, but potential is only possibility. It's not there yet, and it's not ready for mainstream.

If you sign up to sell AppSumo, surely you come with the consumers' needs in mind and counting the cost before launching. It seems they wanted to get their launch from AppSumo but failed to see the strategy turning early adopters into advocates to promote the service to those who missed out. From a business perspective, the latter is more valuable when executed right.

Otherwise, I hope they heed and listen to the voice of the people, including those in the Apple store. The reviews there aren't great, either.

Couldn't get it to work

The first day I was able to log in, but then unable to after that. It seems like a good concept, and visually it's nice, but after I couldn't log in. Would ask me to re-authorize the connection to my Gmail accounts, I did, and still it would redirect me back to the screen asking me to connect my accounts. Screen recording here: https://videos.dermportal.com/conversations/5fa54efd-9bc6-5f06-b2c6-956f2ef85709.

I had to refund. Seems to have promise, but in my experience and reading the other reviews, it seems to be buggy.

Very versatile and nice; 4.5 tacos

The PROs
- The higher purpose of Clay is spot on.
- The UI is beautiful, fast and intuitive.
- The features are good and very versatile.
- The idea of the Nexus feature is brilliant.
- iOS feature (Mac user, as you might have guessed :-) )

The frustrations/annoyances/Cons
- Why provide us with what equals a free plan with a 5.000 limit instead of a tiered approach turning the sumolings into ambassadors and maybe even affiliative sellers? - I would gladly recommend / affiliate promote and sell Clay. As you, the Clay Team, say yourself, "It's the people within our network, or just beyond, that can make the difference." and "It's something we all know intuitively: to achieve more, to be more successful, to be happier, we need to start thinking about others first." You have a possible market winner and could gain so much momentum on your possible sumoling-network instead of a somewhat (pardon me) ridiculous limitation trying to maximise revenue at this stage of your hopefully glorious future.
- The onboarding should be much more precise: Instruct buyers to DOWNLOAD the apps and then onboard within the apps.

I love the app to 6-7 tacos (if possible), but the frustrations/annoyances/Cons reduce with 1.5-2.5 tacos = 4.5 tacos.

Best regards

Glad it's not syncing back to my actual contacts

Love the idea. Love the interface, but for a contact management / CRM that mashes together hundreds of pieces of contact info from 50+ completely different contacts I can't give it more than 3 tacos. Even tried removing my integration sources, but the contacts created from those sources are still hanging around in the jumble of glommed together contacts. Just glad it's not syncing back to my contacts where I actually have good data.

Awesome, beautiful product

Shocked at the software on here people rate 5 tacos which is super immature. Clay is a mature product and is beautifully designed. I suspect most are frustrated by the 5k contacts limitation and thus are giving a superior product a poor rating. You gotta give this one a shot!

Promising, but needs Work

I struggle with this review. I find it not so bad that it deserves a 3, but not so good to give it a 4. If there was a 3.5, that would be my rating.

Overall, the idea behind the platform was great. It was useful to pull data from different sources and provide a consolidated video of a person. I like how all the birthdays of my contacts are right there with me, and that there's an iOS app available.

However, the export function isn't as good as I would have liked it to be. Names from Facebook and Linkedin often comes in truncated, and I need to individually go into the linkedin to check and confirm the identities of the person and update the name. That takes ALOT of time.

I had shared the feedback on Appsumo, and was asked to email support. While the response here seems prompt, I had zero response from support after the email. When I replied here (in the question section) that I have not received a follow-up, I had no reply. This brings to question how good support will be once they are no longer on Appsumo.

5K limit is a huge barrier, it's almost like this is a preview for us to actually purchase the pro plan from them, which then makes this offer useless if we do.

Nexus took a long time to be ready (4–5 days?), but I kind of like the concept behind Nexus, there's potential there.

The import from contacts is also not complete. It would be great if it could pull other data like the notes we had written in our contacts. I have to manually transfer those notes and I write those to remind myself where I had known this person from.

Lots of potential, but definitately not one of the best deals I've tried on Appsumo.

Oh, ok Got it!

Five tacos because this is easy to use ( how hard is Home page or Review page people?)

Five tacos because this baby is about to grow into a giant, try the demo for yourself.

I was a FAT kid growing up in SoCal so, 20 tacos are only if the food is cooked just right. Clay is well done authentic Mexican food.

Theses Devs. are cooking up some great food with IOS/MAC features and they have their own AI, come on are you kidding me! Delicious! I can't wait.
