I've been using Squirrly SEO for over a year, and while the promise of 650+ features sounds incredible on paper, in practice, it feels more like quantity over quality.
✅ What I liked
Squirrly is undeniably ambitious. It aims to be an all-in-one SEO platform, and I appreciate the variety of tools offered — from keyword research to audits to content optimisation. For beginners, having everything under one roof can be very helpful.
❌ Where it falls short
Feature Overload with Inconsistent Quality
Its biggest strength — having 650+ features — is also its downfall. Many tools feel half-baked or poorly executed, making them difficult or even unusable in a real-world workflow.
404 and Redirect Manager: There’s no ability to sort, search, or filter. You also can’t see how many times a broken link has been accessed, which makes prioritising fixes difficult.
Tag Manager: It only supports sitewide tags — there's no page-level or conditional logic support, which limits its usefulness.
Keyword Research: Results often feel generic or irrelevant and don’t consistently match what you’d see in Google Search Console or other SEO tools.
SEO Audit Tool: It flags minor or unclear issues without actionable next steps — more noise than value.
Keyword Briefcase Workflow: If you enter a focus keyword manually, it won’t count unless it’s in the "briefcase", which feels unnecessarily rigid and confusing.
Beyond these, several other features feel overly simplistic — so basic they’re practically unusable in real-world scenarios.
👉 That said, I genuinely wish the team would focus on improving the usability and polish of their existing feature set, rather than continuing to add more tools. The platform doesn’t need more features — it needs better ones.
UI/UX Limitations
The interface is cluttered and difficult to navigate. There’s simply too much going on, and finding specific tools becomes a task in itself. A dashboard overhaul focused on clarity and usability would go a long way.
🚨 Bottom Line
Squirrly SEO has potential, but it tries to do too much, and as a result, ends up doing many things just okay or poorly. The wide feature set sounds great, but too much of it feels unfinished or underdeveloped.
If the team focused on refining what’s already there, Squirrly could be a powerful tool. But in its current state, it’s hard to recommend unless you’re a beginner willing to dig through the clutter and experiment. For most users, especially those with experience in SEO, the frustration may outweigh the benefits.
Squirrly SEO is a comprehensive WordPress SEO plugin designed to simplify optimization for website owners, bloggers, and businesses. It boasts an impressive set of features, including AI-driven keyword research, SEO audits, on-page guidance, and automated optimizations. While the plugin is packed with powerful tools, there is a significant drawback—a lack of proper training resources tailored for a U.S. audience.
Pros of Squirrly SEO:
✅ All-in-One SEO Solution – Provides keyword research, content optimization, SEO audits, and more in a single package.
✅ AI-Powered Optimization – Helps users implement SEO best practices without deep technical knowledge.
✅ Automation Features** – Reduces manual work by optimizing various SEO elements automatically.
Cons of Squirrly SEO
❌ Lack of Step-by-Step Training – The plugin offers extensive features, but there aren't enough detailed, U.S.-style training resources to guide users through practical implementation.
❌ Limited Affordable Freelancers for Support – Since Squirrly is a newer SEO plugin, finding affordable** freelance experts who can assist with setup and optimization can be challenging.
The Need for Better Training and Freelancer Support
Until the Squirrly SEO support team creates clear, step-by-step training materials, users may struggle to take full advantage of its capabilities. To bridge this gap, it would be beneficial to curate a list of affordable freelancers who can assist with Squirrly SEO setup and management. This would help website owners maximize the plugin’s potential without spending excessive time troubleshooting on their own.
Final Verdict
Squirrly SEO is a feature-rich SEO tool, but its lack of structured training materials and limited freelancer support options can be frustrating for new users. If you’re an experienced marketer or SEO professional, you might find it easy to navigate. However, beginners may require external assistance until proper educational resources are developed.
I've bounced around using several popular Wordpress SEO plugins, but some of them are a bit time-intensive to use regularly.
My workflow is just way easier using Squirrly. It gives me actionable steps to take, and I feel like I'm actually making SEO progress instead of just filling in boxes and hoping for the best.
Also, I'm getting regular communications from the company, so it feels like they're active. I'm very happy so far.
Highly recommend, thank you for all you do.
5 stars review.
Thank you,
Iwan
This has been the most valuable tool I've purchased from AppSumo. Thanks to it, I canceled my annual RankMath subscription—and I don't miss a thing!
Overall, I like the product. Minus is the pricing, since there are a number of similar SEO products on Appsumo. The UI could use some polish as well.
However, with the 90 days money back, it is worth to test it IMHO.
What can I say for the price this is a fantastic product. I actually stopped using RankMath because this product is so easy to use. Great product and well worth the money.
I’ve used multiple SEO plugins over the years, but Squirrly SEO stands out as the best by far. Unlike Yoast, which often feels rigid and limited, Squirrly provides real-time, AI-driven suggestions that actually help improve rankings. The built-in keyword research, content optimization, and SERP tracking features make it an all-in-one powerhouse.
What I love most is that Squirrly doesn’t just focus on ticking boxes—it helps create truly engaging content that ranks. The step-by-step guidance is perfect for both beginners and experienced marketers, and the automation features save so much time. If you’re serious about SEO, ditch Yoast and go with Squirrly. Highly recommended!
Squirrly SEO is a great plugin for Wordpress. The UI is a little bit dated but the functionality, the training and learning information is great. It really allows you to pinpoint areas of weakness on your pages and has very useful articles/learning modules and training that can help guide you through optimizing your site. Not sure what a meta on a page is? Click the show me how button and it will take you to an indepth article on how and why you should be doing these things. Need to check your SERPS? It's easyily accessible in the side bar.
I used free versions of other popular SEO tools for a long time and was hesitant to pay monthly. Then I saw this deal on AppSumo and I am so happy I went for it. I am SEO beginner so it was very helpful to receive tips and advice on how to improve my pages. The SEO audit feature provided me with deep insights into how I can improve my websites performance, thanks to actionable insights and integration with Wordpress. I also found the keyword recommendations relevant and will keep updating my content.
I bought Squirrly SEO from here back in 2021 and I have to say, on the rare occasions when I write blogs, it makes such a difference. I'm not technical with SEO, so this has really helped me and quite a few of my specific blogs are number one or two on Google.
Personally, for the price, I think it's fab.
This SaaS is quite comprehensive if you follow their "14 days to better rankings" but doesn’t excel at anything in particular. It takes a rather limited approach to SEO, which will work perfectly for someone with a small site and just a few pages to rank. However, as soon as you’re dealing with a site with thousands of pages, personnal automation becomes impossible because the data is stored on their servers, not yours.
Their so-called automation isn’t really automation—it’s restricted to very specific aspects like metas, and even then, it’s quite mediocre. Something as simple as retrieving the main keyword for each of my articles or products in the database to build automated update workflows is impossible since everything is locked within a SaaS that forces you into a rigid method that won’t suit everyone.
If you know how to code and really want to scale your SEO efforts, other services or WordPress plugins will likely be a better fit. Everything about Squirrly feels handcrafted: it’s perfectly suited for small businesses, but it’s not very effective for large-scale operations.
If you're using WooCommerce, your archive pages are probably the best ones to optimize for SEO, and... Squirrly can't handle it. Therefore, it's useless for e-commerce sites too.
The keyword research is not very accurate for non-english laguages.
Moreover, the interface is quite unintuitive, as the numerous unnecessary features make it easy to get lost.
It's not a bad product, but it's not my cup of tea.
